The terms "sick building syndrome" and "building related illness" are associated with a wide variety of symptoms suffered by building occupants. Reported symptoms include headache, runny nose, watery eyes, scratchy throat, fatigue, or malaise. Building technologies in the 1970's were developed to make buildings more "energy efficient". While these technologies proved successful from an energy savings standpoint, a by-product was the emergence of indoor air quality (IAQ) related health problems. Building contstruction techniques that result in water leakage or moisture accumulation also can contribute to IAQ problems. The study of IAQ associated problems as a multi-faceted discipline requiring a broad spectrum of knowledge from which to appropriately assess and ultimately remedy IAQ problems. Although no legal standards have been established to regulate IAQ problems, we utilize professional guidelines and protocols. We can help you with the following aspects of an Indoor Air Quality Investigation:
Need to get rid of the "bugs" in your building? We’ll conduct a detailed visual assessment for mold, with microbial sampling, if necessary. If there’s a problem, we develop detailed microbial remediation specifications for the remediation contractor to follow. We can oversee the clean-up process to provide quality assurance. |
